My Year of Veggies

As of midnight on 1 Jan 2009, I have not eaten any meat. No grass-fed beef, no chicken, no pork, no game, nothing. I've eaten fish and that's it. It's been hard -- much harder -- than I thought it would be. I crave a hamburger or bolognese sauce on my pasta, but this has allowed me a chance to broaden my vegetable horizon. Still, I thought I would share my New Year's Eve dinner -- spaghetti Bolognese sauce made from scratch (thanks to an Nigel Slater's recipe from The Kitchen Diaries) and using grass-fed beef -- YUM!



Of course, no meal would be complete without chocolate! These pots de choclate also come courtesy of The Kitchen Diaries.




I have to say, I have really enjoyed the recipes I've used from Slater's book -- my favorite being a yummy and filing Dal and Pumpkin soup that I made with my friend ME. It's a shame I won't be able to have it again until the fall.
